Psychological counselling will often help to ease the symptoms
Involvement in an accident can be very traumatic. Sometimes it results in unexpected psychological trauma. We know that accident victims may suffer some or all of the following:
- Flashbacks
- Nightmares
- Panic attacks
- Sleep disturbance
- Intrusive thoughts
- Depression
- Frustration
- Mood change
- Lack of concentration
- Loss of appetite/libido
- Avoidance behaviour
Psychological trauma can be difficult to come to terms with. However, it is important that you tell us about these symptoms, as they are very real.
Psychological counselling will often help to ease these symptoms, which in turn will sometimes assist in lowering the level of perceived physical pain.
Private treatment
In the event that psychological counselling or treatment will assist your recovery, we can arrange this for you privately and seek an interim payment from the defendant to cover the cost.GP practices are generally busy and are unlikely to have the resources or funds to provide the appropriate level of psychological treatment on the NHS without waiting. However, it may be advisable for you to discuss the need for treatment with your own doctor in the first instance. We can then act on their recommendation.
It is necessary for liability to be accepted by the defendant before they are likely to be willing to make an interim payment. However, in the majority of cases insurance companies are prepared to assist with rehabilitation and we can ask them to fund the cost of any reasonable treatment.
We believe it is important to try and help our clients return to a normal or improved lifestyle as soon as possible following an accident.
